My first month as a Ruby developer
… it’s been interesting and better that I’ve expected; ok, maybe apart from the terrible cold I had this week.
And it has been challenging: I’ve had to pick up a lot of new techniques and technologies and had to scratch my head quite often when reading some of the code – the guys that are working on the project are pretty clever.
But it’s been all good and, most of all, I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I didn’t feel so good since I’ve started using Labview back in the Uni days. Ruby feels very natural to me and the more I learn the more I like it. I’ve got to get my hand dirty with Rails services, Rails testing, Ferret and Capistrano libraries and Selenium, which by the way is f***ing awesome.
Also, my personal project Rubynia.ro is going well. I didn’t manage to do much on it this month but I will have lots of stuff to write about. BTW, Rubynia.ro is a initiative to make available Ruby resources in Romanian.
Dilema
noapte cu o furtuna teribila.
Treci pe langa o statie de autobuz, unde se afla 3
persoane asteptand:
1. O batrana bolnava pe moarte;
2. Un vechi prieten, care, odata, ti-a salvat viata;
3. Femeia visurilor tale, sau barbatul ideal.
Pe cine ai lua in automobilul tau, tinand cont ca nu
ai decat un singur loc, doar pentru un pasager ???
Gandeste-te foarte bine la raspunsul tau, inainte de a
citi mai departe.
Aceasta este o dilema etica si morala, care se
foloseste in interviurile pentru angajare in serviciu.
Ai putea lua batrana , pentru ca este pe moarte si
trebuie salvata prima; sau ai putea lua prietenul care
ti-a salvat viata si esti obligat fata de el.
Neindoielnic, e posibil ca niciodata sa nu mai
reintalnesti femeia visurilor tale , sau barbatul
ideal.

sau raspuns.
El a raspuns simplu :
“As da cheile masinii prietenului meu si i-as cere sa
duca batrana la spital; in timpul acesta, eu as ramane
sa astept autobuzul, impreuna cu femeia visurilor
mele”.
Ti-a placut istorioara ? Pai, asa este si viata,
pentru asta trebuie sa ai mereu prezenta acea fraza
banala: O PROBLEMA PUSA CORECT, ESTE PRACTIC REZOLVATA!

Windows shitsta
My sistem in law purchased, recently, a new Lenovo laptop and it came with Vista (excuse my French). Now, after 2 months, she’s complaining about it being slow…
I’ve had a look at it today and it’s been taking ages to start.
Talking about friendliness and usability, I’ve been informed that my ‘Windows Experience Index score’ is 3.1. No shit, Einstein!?! And the biggest button on that page was ‘Learn how to improve your score’ which tells you to buy more hardware.
No wonder people are downgrading to XP.
